Ocean Outdoor said:
The award celebrates organisations that have successfully integrated sustainability into their operations, strategy and culture, delivering measurable environmental benefits. For us, it reflects a journey that has involved rethinking how they operate, working more closely with suppliers and partners, and taking greater responsibility for their impact beyond the screen.
Turning ambition into action
Our sustainability strategy and positioning, Ocean for Good, bring together our commitment to reducing our environmental impact and creating positive change.
We have established science-based targets, validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), and achieved ISO 14001 certification. Our ambition is to reduce Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 81% and Scope 3 emissions by 25% by 2030, before reaching net zero across their value chain by 2040.
We’ve already exceeded our 2030 Scope 1 and 2 reduction target, achieving an 85%+ reduction against our 2022 baseline, five years ahead of schedule.
Our transformation goes beyond our own operations. We measure our full carbon footprint annually and are working with suppliers to improve emissions data, understand the impact of our screen technology and installations, and identify opportunities to reduce our wider Scope 3 emissions.
From sourcing renewable electricity and improving screen efficiency to reusing installation materials and embedding sustainability into procurement, we’re continuing to find practical ways to reduce our impact.
Creating positive impact beyond the screen
Our commitment also extends to the communities and environments in which we operate.
Through Drops in the Ocean, we donate advertising space to environmental charities, helping them reach wider audiences and amplify their campaigns. To date, we’ve donated £11.8 million worth of screen space.
Our partnership with Pinwheel takes this further, connecting agency revenue growth with funding for marine conservation projects chosen by our agency partners. Since launching in 2024, the partnership has raised £144,000 in funds for projects supporting coastal carbon removal, turtle protection, plastic removal and coral restoration.
We’re also creating wildlife habitats around our digital screen locations and giving our teams opportunities to get hands-on through environmental volunteering.
A collective effort
None of this would be possible without the commitment of our people, suppliers, clients, agencies and sustainability partners. Working together is essential, particularly as we tackle the Scope 3 emissions that make up the largest share of our carbon footprint.
Winning Best Business Transformation is an important recognition of how far we’ve come, but we know that there is more to do.
We’ll continue to build on all this, strengthen collaboration across our industry and turn our sustainability ambitions into meaningful action.
We’re proud of the progress we’ve made, and even more determined to achieve what comes next.
