Expert judges seek inspirational ideas in Ocean’s Crucial Creative Competition

Industry panel draws together top creative minds

Ocean has announced the line-up of the judging panel for its Crucial Creative Competition, a new £1million prize fund to help rally advertisers and agencies as the Covid-19 crisis begins to ease.

This special contest is an opportunity for brands, creative minds, agencies and advertisers to create inspirational work and relevant, positive initiatives to help people emerge from lockdown and get the nation back on its feet.

The 12 strong expert panel includes Ray Shaughnessy, Executive Creative Director, McCann London; Franki Goodwin, Creative Director, Saatchi & Saatchi; Laura Jordan Bambach, Chief Creative Officer at Grey; Jo Wallace Creative Director at Wunderman Thompson and Ete Davies, Chief Executive Officer, Engine Creative.

Joining them are Dino Myers-Lamptey, Founder, The Barber Shop; Katreena Dare, Head of Brand Strategy at Taylor Herring; Glen Wilson; Managing Director, Posterscope UK; James Copley, UK CEO, Talon Outdoor; Nicole Lonsdale, Chief Planning Officer, Kinetic Worldwide; Chris Marjoram, Managing Director of Rapport; and Richard Sunderland, Chairman and CEO, Heavenly.

Brands and creative agencies are invited to submit creative concepts which leverage the multiple technical capabilities of Ocean’s digital out of home portfolio to convey positive, helpful consumer messages as the country emerges from Covid-19 restrictions.

Ocean Outdoor joint managing director Phil Hall said: “Now is the time for advertising and brand communications to become useful and relevant. We are excited to see how brands will reflect the nation’s mood and the new social practicalities we all face as we move into a new post lockdown world.”

Three winning entries will be displayed across Ocean’s portfolio of premium screens from July, sharing advertising space worth £250,000 each for the two runners-up, with £500,000 for the overall winner.

To keep the process simple, concepts should combine jpeg images with a short written narrative (500 words max). It is free to enter and the competition closes on June 30. The winners will be announced in July.
