One ocean, one climate, one future: together.

As part of our ongoing commitment to sustainability, this year we have supported a number of initiatives to raise awareness on the impact of our oceans, both on screen and in person.

In London, our team worked together to remove debris and litter from the Thames riverbed at West India Docks. In partnership with one of our Drops in the Ocean charity winners, Canal & River Trust, we litter picked and de-weeded the area, collecting bags of rubbish and freshening up the area before the tide came in.

Canal & River Trust reports that 14m pieces of rubbish end up in our rivers and canals each year, and 500,000 pieces are carried into oceans, negatively impacting the environment on a global scale.

Earlier in the summer, to mark World Ocean Day (8 June) we supported the charity Marine Conservation Society across our screens in Edinburgh and Birmingham.

Marine Conservation Society are an environmental charity by and for sea lovers, who work together to protect the ocean for generations to come. The charity estimates that every year an estimated 11 million tonnes of plastics enters our ocean.

In our London based office, we hosted an Ocean Day focused knowledge session that highlighted two of our Drops in the Ocean charities.

We welcomed Graham, Campaign Director from Bite-Back Shark and Marine Conservation, as well a pre-recorded video from Open Seas.

Did you know that without sharks the ocean’s can’t produce 50% of the world’s oxygen? Bite-Back Shark’s mission is to educate on the environmental risks of overfishing and to change the public perception of sharks, whilst encouraging shops and restaurants to stop selling shark, and other threatened marine life.

Open Seas are dedicated to protecting our marine ecosystem and the sea creatures that live in it, educating people on the common used fishing techniques that are damaging our oceans.
