Ocean Outdoor is hosting nine Official Olympics Fan Zones in partnership with Team GB for the duration of Paris 2024 and these will be followed by six Paralympics fan zones which open at the end of August.
At Battersea Power Station in London, Olympic champion Christine Ohuruogu MBE officially opened the fan experience on Friday as the sun shone down on TV and radio crews and crowds of visitors gathered at the riverside park which is hosting an entire summer of games and sports events.
During the course of the Olympics, elite athletes including two-times GB Rowing Olympian and Olympic silver medallist Karen Bennett, taekwondo champion Bianca Cook, Kirsty Gilmour (badminton) and the sprinter and bobsledder Joel Fearon are making guest appearances at the fan zones, along with Team GB’s mascot Pride the Lion.
“We want to get everyone involved in sport, to be active and healthy,” said Christine as she cut the ribbon to formally open the Battersea Power Station fan experience.
