As soon as the sad news was announced, Ocean and indeed all the major UK OOH operators, replaced digital commercial advertising with a commemorative still to show our respect to The Queen. We continued to show the message for the remainder of the day, only reverting to a normal service at midnight.
The same was true on the day of Her Majesty’s state funeral – all advertising was paused for 24 hours and replaced with a commemorative message. We are proud to use the power of our medium to pay our respects.

“I would like to express my gratitude to Ocean for commemorating and honouring the Queen’s passing on the day it was announced. On the morning of her death, as I was driving into work on the roundabout into Newcastle Upon Tyne, I was struck by a beautiful photo of the Queen in blue, along with the years of her birth and death. It was an incredible moment for me, as I was moved by the beauty and power of the billboard, and by the Queen’s presence. Prior to that moment, I had not fully noticed the massive screen on that roundabout. Now, every time I drive towards it, I am reminded of our late, beautiful Queen.”
