Our screens across our UK network are joining in the national moment to commemorate Remembrance Day. Remembering those who have bravely fought and defended our freedom.
In collaboration with the Royal British Legion, The Loop network in Manchester and Piccadilly Lights, paid tribute to the national Memorial Day.
Amongst the footfall of Piccadilly Circus, Piccadilly Lights displayed a touching tribute of falling poppies that were observed along with a 2 minute silence at 11am GMT on November 11th.
Remembering the courage of 1944, this year marks 80 years of momentous battles and turning points of the Second World War. The D-Day landings of 6th June – the largest seaborne invasion in history – marked the beginning of the liberation of western Europe.
The Royal British Legion’s Director of Marketing and Communications, Rebecca Warren, said: “At this poignant time of year, it is vital for the RBL to encourage the public to participate in Remembrance and commemorate the service and sacrifice of the Armed Forces community, past and present. Reaching urban audiences can be challenging and expensive, but it is key to our aim of engaging all communities in remembrance activity and we couldn’t do it without the generous support of partners like Ocean Outdoor.”
