In an out of this world activation, Space For a Better World transformed Piccadilly Lights‘ immersive space into a 3 day Sea and Space exhibition to mark 55 years of Earth Day.
The event, which aimed to spark conversations of change and inspire global conservation took place in the landmark location and combined the Piccadilly Lights screen and the space beneath, blending experiential and digital.
Over Easter bank holiday weekend, members of the public immersed themselves in a unique world of Sea and Space, getting up close with space-suit replicas and a replication of a blue whale heart. Attendees had the opportunity to view short films and documentaries, as well as participate in panel discussions and Q&A sessions with experts in Space, and Ocean storytellers.
The immersive space, which is equipped with large format HD display systems also showcased a special film viewing and presentation by NASA Astronaut, Nicole Stott, alongside talks by Marine Scientist, Gaelin Rosenwaks and Ocean Expert Dr. David Vaughan, who spoke about coral micro-fragmentation.
To conclude the three-day celebration, the team unveiled an Apollo 8 Earthrise Sea and Space mosaic on Piccadilly Lights, featuring children’s artwork that depicted what our ocean planet means to them.
Presented by Space for a Better World, Astronauts gathered in Piccadilly Circus to watch the unveiling. Amongst them was UK astronaut and aquanaut Tim Peake, NASA astronaut and youngest man on the moon, Charlie Duke, and the first American woman to conduct a space walk, Kathy Sullivan.
As a part of Landsec’s brand experience and customer engagement platform Spotlight, the immersive events space beneath the Lights enables brands to build national campaigns by extending on screen media to physical experiences in the heart of London. Since its launch, F1 Williams, Sky Premier League, L’Oréal and Dior are just some of the names who have brought their brand activations to life in this unique space.
