As mentioned earlier, we have already taken a number of measures within this scope that contribute to achieving our climate goal.

LED-lighting

The switch to LEDs is a major step forward, both for Ocean and the DOOH sector. Whereas a traditional light bulb converts 98% of its energy into heat, an LED converts 90% into light. That makes a world of difference in terms of energy consumption.

We therefore work together with the world leader in LED technology. This choice is based on strict sustainability requirements. This ensures we have the most efficient and sustainable lighting commercially available.

In addition, we are continuously developing, together with our suppliers, ways to make the screens more sustainable, for example by reducing the brightness of the light. This also contributes to savings.

Our technical commitment

    • Power Factor Correction (PFC) for maximum efficiency in all our connections.

    • RoHS-ready products: completely free of mercury, cadmium, Cr6+, PBB, PBDE and other harmful substances.

Our sustainable commitment

Our partner actively recycles all eligible office and industrial materials, including:

    • Aluminium, steel, cardboard, plastic, glass, paint cans, wood, paper, printed circuit boards and solvents.
All packaging materials are PVC-free, recyclable and unbleached.

Light pollution

We limit the number of hours our screens are on and voluntarily dim them beyond what is required by law. In sensitive environments, we even intervene manually to ensure that the brightness is lower than what our light sensors would automatically set.
Ocean’s screens are deliberately not in operation 24/7. Most large formats are switched off between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m., and the smaller networks between 3 a.m. and 6 a.m. Where possible, we impose stricter limits on ourselves than the system dictates. In this way, we take our surroundings, the environment and nature into account.

100% green energy

Ocean is an organisation that consumes energy every day in our offices and, of course, to power our screens. We are proud that since 2019, all the electricity we purchase and pay for is 100% green, sourced from sustainable suppliers. As you can imagine, it takes a considerable amount of power to keep all our screens running.
