The talented students at The Glasgow School of Art exchanged their usual Graduate Showcase event for a digital exhibition like no other. As the students’ work couldn’t be displayed in their usual format due to Covid-19, Ocean gifted their screens to allow a platform for the students to display their hard work in a safe environment.

Supporting over 500 graduates across a huge range of disciplines including fine art, sculpture, architecture, innovation, fashion, silversmithing and more, a collection of 253 photographs were displayed across the city’s digital billboards, including the iconic Glasgow Central over 11 days.

The students showed great enthusiasm seeing their work in some of the most iconic spots across Glasgow, “GSA students and graduates are known for using the city as the backdrop for their work finding new and exciting places to exhibit, so our 2021 graduates were therefore delighted to have the opportunity to be featured on the Ocean Outdoor billboards across the city.

This special collaboration expanded the range of opportunities for people to see and engage with their work and was an exciting addition to the Graduate Showcase” (The Glasgow School of Art).

Key themes across the project emerged this year which include sustainability, Covid-19, gender and representation and many more. The link with Ocean’s mission statement, including the push on sustainability and passion for innovation, meant that the annual Graduate Showcase was too obvious not to support.

Marc Keenan, Managing Director of Ocean Scotland said “Ocean Scotland was delighted to support talent from The Glasgow School of Art as part of their 2021 Graduate Showcase. The partnership has transformed Glasgow into an outdoor gallery where digital art was displayed throughout the city. Working with young creatives brought our ‘Art of Outdoor’ mission statement to life and we wish the graduates success in their future careers”

If you missed the display across the city, you can still find the work online at www.gsa.ac.uk where it will stay up for an additional 12 months.

Congratulations to all the students on such a fantastic exhibition.
